A button hole doesn’t have to be scary. I find that this button hole was really fun to make. The first thing you have to know is how big you want to make it. Take your button and place in on your work and find out of many stitches it is wide. If the button you’re using is 4 stitches wide, make a 3-stitch buttonhole. Also remember the hole is done all in one row.
I wrote out the instructions if that is the best for you, but this video was really helpful! Good luck.
(all done in one row)
Bring yarn to the front, Slip the first stitch on the left needle purl wise, bring yarn to the back
Simple bind off: Slip the next stitch from the left needle to the right needle. Pass the first slipped stitch over the second slipped stitch and off the needle. Repeat until 3 times.
Replace the last sticht onto the left needle and turn the work.
Bring the yarn to the back. Cast on 4 stitches with a cable cast one.
Insert right needle between the stitches on the left needle. Pull the yarn through and place it on the left needle. Repeat 4 times.
Turn work and move yarn to the back
Slip the stitches on the left needle to the right and pass over the cast on over the slip stitch.
